Ken River Lodge made a humble start in 1986. The love for wildlife, encouraged Shyamendra Singh, grandson of Maharaja Of Nagod to establish the lodge. The Lodge was washed out in the floods of 1992, only to come out stronger and better.
The Ken River with its fresh, clear water, flows through the ravines of the Vendhya range and sustains the varied wildlife of Panna National Park. Spread across 542 sq km, Panna National Park is home to rich variety of animal life which includes Tiger, Panther, Sloth Bear, Sambhar, Cheetal Bluebull, Chowsingha, Magar, Chinkara and the lesser mammals.
ACCOMMODATION
Ken River Lodge offers 10 Deluxe Huts with attached concrete bathrooms with w/c, hot and cold water, dressing room and sit out. 10 Cottage Rooms with modern bathrooms, living room, kitchen and open deck.
The tents and cottages are spread out in 30 acres of mixed jungle in undulating terrain, giving a jungle experience which few in the country can parallel. The Ken river runs for almost a mile with our property. The Lodge also boasts of a 1500 sq.ft. Machaan were the meals are served. The Machaan popularly know as the Tree House overlooks the Ken river and boasts of multi-cuisine buffet meals.
ACTIVITIES
Enjoy the carefree Boat Ride on the mesmerising river ken with hands on experience in rowing, from our local boatmen, the real adventurous can do it on the truck tube as their boat, as used by the local fishermen. Alternatively inside the park is also an hour ride on a motorized boat , where the real unlucky misses the crocodiles. The islands on the river are the home to Large Grey Fish eagle which hover in search of the gigantic Mahaseer.
The lodge has its own 4 x 4 open Gypsy's used for Jungle Safari - Morning Safari and Evening Safari are daily organized. The guests are accompanied by trained naturalists to give them a better insight into the park.
Panna is the land of Cascading Water Falls - Raneh falls and Pandav falls are a great attraction, both are situated in the reserve forest. Raneh falls is where the famous Ken Gharial Sanctuary is. On a sunny afternoon the guests can see innumerable gharials sun basking. Inside the park Dundhwa falls is a must, it is also where the vociferous Shaheen pair live.
Rock Paintings and Relics of Gondwana Period( rule of the tribal people of central India) are scattered all over the reserve. The rock paintings are over ten thousand year old. Panna diamond mines at the Hinota gate are famous for industrial diamonds and belief is there that the Kohinoor was also mined here. The lodge organises day trips to these sites
